on my 72 ranger im trying to find a new steering assist pump but ive been unable to find one thats not worn out. does anyone know where i might be able to find one?

Last time I checked my local auto parts store could still provide a rebuilt power steering pump.

 

the power steering assist was on ford trucks from '72-'74 i believe, im not certain about those dates. but the steering assist is different than regular power steering...i have found steering assist but theyve been worn about as bad as mine. i have tried to tighten the steering box but it really didnt have any effect, ive got about 8 inches of play. do you think it would be easier to just put in regular power steering or manual steering?
