Ok I know this is a simple question but I haven't done this much, so bear with me. My 69 f100's head lights are blinking off and on after about 2 miles of driving with the lights on. I realize that there is a loose connection. I can't seem to find it with the switch still installed so, of course, I want to remove it. Sounds easy enough, but since I have been shy to mess with the dash wiring, I'm kinda new to the removal procedures. Does the **** on the switch pull off? I went to the LMC truck site and a new switch seems to come without the **** and shaft ( by just looking at the drawing of the switch itself). The **** has no set screw that I can find. When I unscrew the retaining ring the hole in the dash is too small for the **** to pass through. I drive this truck every day and don't want to destroy any more than I have to. (been there, done that, and replacement is a problem sometimes as you all know. ) Any insight you may have will be appreciated.
try reaching around under your dash on top of the switch there is a button. press that button and pull on the ****, it should pull right out. unscrew chrome nut and pull the switch out from behind Good luck, rich

I always seen that button to push and pull out the **** but also on my 69 I cant find a button unless it broke, I have a plastic peice on mine but it doesnt push.
Yes, I've done it myself a bunch of times. You have to feel around for the button and push it in and then pull it out. Trouble is that sometimes it is too hard to push in and have to use some pliers or something.
