2000 F-150 missing #8 cyl

2000 F-150 missing #8 cyl

I have a 2000 f-1504x4 that suddenly developed a miss. It is mostly in the idle circuit or mid throttle range. It makes the truck buck pretty bad. If you get in the throttle, it seems to come out of and has power. The check engine light is on. I took it to Autozone, the scanner read misfire #8 cylinder. Some research has suggested the COP may be bad. When the engine cold, it runs fine for avout a mile before starting to buck. Sound familiar to anyone?

correction- this is a 2001 f-150 4x4

Its a common problem on the 5.4s. I've replaced 2 on mine.

Yep. I'd put my money on a bad COP. I've replaced quite a few.

Thanks a lot guys. I appreciate your input on this. I called Ford and priced a coil. It cost over a hundred, so I didn't want to but one until I knew more. I feel I can get one now and try it. I'll let you know how it comes out.
