In just the past few days i have encountered a problem and was wondering if anyone here can help. I have a 2000 2wd 150 with a MT 5 speed. When a depress the clutch pedal my truck will not start. After playing with the safety switch a bit it starts. Now I know that means my sensor is going bad, but does this sensor enteract with the engine idle. There have been times where i was coming up to a stop and my engine will increase the idle speed for a few seconds then drop to were it should be. I have replaced the IAC and the TPS but it still does it. Can the clutch neutral switch be to blame? and in additon to that does this particular trans have issues with the syncro's? I am getting a grind between 1st to second and third to second. Thank you
When the engine RPM increases as you come to a stop is it with the clutch pushed in?
These transmissions do sometimes have synchro problems. The most common symptom that I've seen is a crunch while shifting from second to third. Ever change the oil in the transmission? Does the clutch disengage ok? Can you put it in first and reverse easily with the truck not moving?
The Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) switch is probably out of adjustment, is sticking, or is going bad.
In addition to providing a starter interlock and cruise disconnect functions, a third section of the switch provides a signal to the PCM that the clutch is either engaged or not so that the computer can adjust idle speed if appropriate.
Yes i have changed the oil in the trans twice and it does disengage fine. The feeling is more like it just doesn't want to engage, so i have to double clutch it to get it in sometimes not all the time.
