Tip sound ques. please HELP!

OK i have a 4.9 I6 in my 94 F150, i know this is a stupid question but the guy who installed my exhaust which is 2 1/4 pipe to a si/do muffler to 12x3in. tips turned out stock location behind each wheel, well when he did the exhaust he has the 2 1/4 pipe going about half way into my tips rather than putting the tips at the end of the pipe like i would imagine like you should do....is this affecting my sound and if so how is it affecting it? any help would be greatly appriciated

Josh

The guy did a half baked job because he was too lazy to cut the pipe, IMO.

The sound will not change, but I would take it back and make him do it right anyway, just because he was lazy.

the sound will not change?....but i know im the one asking the question here so i shouldnt second guess your answer...lol...but i hear the longer and wider the tips the deeper the sound, so technically if i somehow cut the extra 2 1/4 in pipe that is inside the tips wouldnt that technically make the tips longer?....just a thought...thanks for the help man

Actually, I misread your 1st post. Now that I read the tips are 12" long, it should change the tone a good bit. Sorry about that.
