Hey guys,
Just recently (about a week so far) my Expy has been acting up. When I start it up (no matter what time of day, hot or cold) the idle goes up to 1500 then down to around 700(ish). It never went that high before. Also, while driving around, I noticed that the idle would be high while coming to a stop, then go back to 700(ish). The truck also pings under acceleration. About a week and a half ago, My wife used the truck and told me that the engine light came on and the oil pressure gauge was going up and down. It never did that to me and it has never resurfaced agian. The things that have changed in the past week? It has rained ALOT here and going through puddles were a must. Could it be the coil packs burned out from the rain causing the pinging? I let the gas go below 1/8 tank. Could it have sucked up the crap on the bottom of the tank?
I have the fuel filter and the PCV valve that I am going to change this weekend and see if that fixes the problem. Then I'll try cleaning the throttle body/IAC and the MAF sensor. I was going to take it to one Ford dealership for the 60k maintenance, but they want $400 and another wants $600 to do this... I think I'll do all and just have them do the tranny at $100 for the flush.
Any other ideas you guys can give me?
By the way, the truck has around 55k miles and the 5.4 oh and there has been no check/service engine lights since.
