Checking on the usual internet auction site and there is a header for 53 to 56 223 engine. I wonder if that same header would fit the 57 to 60 truck body with a 223. There seems to be lots of room down the side of a 57 to 60 for the pipe to fit but i haven't seen under the hood of a 53 to 56.
Anyone have a opinion??
The auction says those are made by Patriot Exhaust; here's a catalog: http://www.pertronix.com/exhaust_pro.../patriot06.pdf
53-56 223 6 cyl H8425 H8425-1 (coated version)
footnotes:
Header uses dual collector design for increased torque
Fits the flathead six engine but does not provide for heat exchange to the stock cast
intake manifold
Maybe you could order them from some other auto parts vendor that has a generous return policy, and see if they fit. It will be useful to know if there's another source for 223 headers than Clifford.
Summit Racing lists the H8425 for $160, which happens to be $30 less than that auction item...

I got my 57-60 223ci split headers from Sacramento Vintage Ford...The price is right and the quality is not exactly unmatched but its still a very reasonable option. I had to grind down all the tabs they welded on the flange though..That was a PITA...Short of that the fit was clean.
