same or different?
are the heads from 400/351m/cleavland all the same?
I'm thinking of building a "cleavor" engine I have all the crap laying around except for the heads. My buddy has a 2v 400 and I think I can get the heads dirt cheap. Are they cleavland heads???

Cleveland 2V heads and 400 heads are very similar. There is supposedly a slight difference in the combustion chamber size (+/-2cc) but there can be that much difference in just casting variation from head to head. The exhaust ports on the later 400 castings are somewhat more restrictive than the earlier castings including the Cleveland 2V. Unless this is an ultra high performance engine I doubt you'd be able to tell the difference between the Clevelands and the 400s.

The later 351M/400 heads also have a cast-in thermactor passage to inject fresh air into the exhaust ports. The late 79-82 heads also had better single groove valves and better iron rocker fulcrums.
