smaller starter for 390¿
i have a 1970 f100 with a 390 i put headers on it and im running in to a problem where the starter is touching the header and its burner up.i found a performace starter for $178. that is alot smaller that i will be able to fit a heat shield on.what i wanted to ask is if anyone has a cheaper idea or a newer (cheaper) starter that would bolt up to a 390

I have a hi torque gear reduction starter on my 410, and it's well worth the money. It's about the size of a pop can, turns over my motor with no problem and last long time. It also won't drain a battery as bad. My advice would be pay it, and it will pay off. it will outlast 2 or 3 regular starters
