hi I have a 89 F250 duel tanks and yesterday the guage stopped working I switched, front to Back and nothing changed or moved. The last thing I did was I tapped the wire that goes below the fuel filter because it kept falling any idea on the problem?
Check the connector on the FSV first, do you hear a zip sound coming from the FSV drivers side door, frame area when tanks are changed. Last thing which connects is the fuel guage after the valve is changed.
Could be a loose connector on the back of the dash cluster.........
As for the wire on the filter base that is for the WIF light, try squeezing the connector slightly and it should stay on.

FSV is the fuel selector valve, it is located inside the frame rail under the drivers side floor board.
Has an electrical connector and 6 fuel lines attached to it.
4 fuel lines go toward the back, two to each tank
2 fuel lines go to the front to the engine
