Back-up light problem

I had the transmission overhauled on my 1995 F250 Diesel automatic after it died on the highway. Now the backup lights don't work. I've eliminated bulb, fuse, relay, wiring problems. The mechanic told me there was a part that fits on the transmission housing that could be the culprit. I didn't get the name...anybody know the name of this part? Thanks. Garnet

Here's the schematic for the part. Easy fix. If I remember correctly, it was pretty inexpensive for the switch too, under $20.

Now that I'm thinking of it, this was the reason I found FTE in the first place. Hope you enjoy it here as much as I have.

(On edit) the schematic is for a manual tranny but it should be pretty close with your automatic. Someone will chime in if I'm wrong, I'm sure.

It is the "Manul Lever Position Sensor" and I would make the tranny shop fix it as it is part of the transmission. but that is just me.
