HI,
Hey on my 92 F150,I'm having trouble getting the parking break to lock in place.
When I step on the break to set it,the break wil not lock in place.
It just pops back in place and will not stay down.
Planning to go fishing with my boat, and I need to set the parking break at the boat ramp. I have back down to the boat ramp before, without setting the parking break. But then I get this hard pop from the trans when I shift to drive .
Yes you need a parking brake on a boat ramp or you may end up fishing for the truck or replacing the broken trans. Are you saying the park brake pedal will not stay down? If so, you probably need a new pedal assembly. Might try spraying the mechanism with lube, but probably needs replaced.
Hey
I went outside in the daylight and took a good look at the break set up.
I took the spring that was on the release handle. And moved the spring behind the release handle and U shaped metal stop from the indside of the cab.
Now the Parking break works just fine.
Ha Ha the simple little spring had just somehow sliped over the little metal
stop.
Hope this help someone who has the same problem with there parking break.
Such a simple fix, sort of feel bad for posting a problem.
