I have a 1999 7.3 superduty with a banks powerpack along with a six-gun. the problem is the truck is having a intermittent extremely rough idle and occasionally stalls while driving at different speeds. i have changed the cam sensor once with a ebay part (brand new still in package) and it did not fix the problem and the second time bought the part from ford which also did not fix the problem. i have took out the six-gun and the otto-mind chip both and seperatly and the problem did not stop. i have no error codes on the six-gun and the service engine soon light pops up when it wants to but not all the time with the problem. i have also a battery light that comes on also but again intermittently. i have cleaned the grounds and checked the batteries and alternater. i have changed the oil to try to fix the idle and even switched oil to see about foaming. i have changed the fuel filter and checked for air leaks. Any help would be appreciated
my guess would be the Injector Control Pressure (ICP) sensor. it is what shows the truck how much oil pressure it's getting, therefore telling it to idle up, slow down, etc. it is located on the engine itself, at the front of the left (passenger) cylinder head. it is drilled into the oil gallery that feeds the injectors. it is a circular plug with i believe three prongs. try unplugging this, and it will set the engine in "limp mode" which gives it a predetermined pressure for n RPM. it will have less power, but it will determine if the ICP is the culprit or not. also when unhooking it, check for any dirt or corrosion in the prongs that may lead to a sketchy signal.

Strokin...my ICP sensor is on the "driver" side...do u mean the driver side as that's the left cylinder bank.BTW, i agree with your diagnosis.

yeah. duh. i meant driver side cylinder head, and i never took time to edit my post once i posted it.. ill leave above as it is, so your post doesn't look worthless, but i did mean the driver's side cylinder head. i pulled mine off tonight and inspected the base as i was pulling my turbo tonight. it's going to school tomorrow
would the icp sensor send any codes to the comp if i got it checked with a obt 2 scanner? the six-gun is sussposed to send a code when that sensor is messed up.... ?

In an ideal world u would think the PCM has a code stored from a faulting sensor.
Nut
yes it might throw a code, here are a list of possible codes that you could get. you may get others, just post them.
P1209 Injection Control System Pressure Peak Fault
P1210 Injection Control Pressure Above Expected Level
P1211 ICP Not Controllable - Pressure Abow/Below Desired (this is common on modified PSDs)
P1212 ICP Voltage Not at Expected Level
P1280 ICP Circuit Out of Range Low
P1281 ICP Circuit Out of Range High
P1282 Excessive ICP
P1263 IPR Circuit Failure
P1284 ICP Failure - Aborts KOER or CCT Test
end of tread...
i took the truck to ford for them to read the codes and it came out to be a exhaust back pressure sensor. it is to the left of the thermostat and in frount on the fuel filter. i bought the part from ford and installed it so lets hope it works. thanks for all the help,
