they are a paper weight, dont waste your money. there is no proven performance from installing one of those. what mods have you done to your bronco so far?

I had one on a past truck with a 350 and it didn't make a noticeable difference on it, so I haven't bothered with them since.

For $100, you can do a lot more for your money. There are many ways to bring more air into the engine, but I don't see how a TB spacer does this. The helical fins on the inside won't create more vacuum, or make the incomming air more dense. Without an increase in the mass flow rate, or having work done on the air as it passes through the TB spacer, the volume of the air passing through will not change. If my use of thermodynamics is incorrect, please let me know.

Take a look at the Cold Air Intake post by 93mule - that probably won't run you the $100 a TB Spacer would.

You would be better off tossing the $100 out the window of the truck as you roll down the freeway. I agree with Kem completely.

well the first line of bussiness is the exhaust. if you can afford doing bits at a time like starting with a set of shortie headers, then look into either the bassani Y pipe or have a shop make you a new y pipe and 3" exhaust out the stock location.
good headers will run ya at least $250+ but can be installed by you. the rest of the exhaust figure about $200-$350 more but once done youll notice some better get up and go and even improved mpg.
there are also some cheap things to do like a good tune up with good wires, msd cap/rotor and msd coil. bump timing up a little . but not sure how on your 96

thanks for the info...on my other truck chevy 1500 (i know) i installed headers, dynomax exhaust and a msd box,and billet distributer.the headers where pita. not alot of clearence and it looks to be the same on the bronco.

at the moment im gonna do a tune up,and clean the throtle body.should i stick with motorcraft parts forthe tune up of over the counter items.
thanks

motorcraft is probably the way to go if you can afford it. if you clean the throttle body be sure to use throttlebody cleaner . DO NOT use carb cleaner or anything that doesnt say specificly for throttlebodys. otherwise you will ruin the coating on it and have a vacum leak among other issues. honestly i would leave the throttlebody along for right now

Some Split-fire spark-plugs and cables could help, but i don´t know about their price right now.

I agree about TB spacers unless your drag racing which might shave a hundreth of a second off your ET don't buy one. Some good, quick, effective and inexpensive performance boosts are a K&N flat panel air filter, 10-30 Redline synthetic oil and bump the timing up just to where it barely pings then back it off a tad, I do mine by ear and feel or you can set it with a timing light (r & r the spout connector if using a light) at around 10-12 degrees before TDC, you will have to run 89 or 91 octane gas though if you bump up the timing but they run better all around after you do, much better torque, oh yeah, set the timing back to stock specs if you're in a smog check area for the test. Dyno's have seen up to 20 HP gains with these simple mods.

don't waste your money on split-fires, I have done quite a bit of reading and researce and everyone recomends just plain old motorcraft plugs. upgrading your cap and rotor to a new one (msd makes a good one for about 20 bucks) and get some new wires msd or excel are good but you can get the ford racing 9mm wires for allot less (I got mine from the stealership for about $45) and they work great too. another good upgrade that is cheap is getting a msd coil (about $45 at pepboys or summit) and from all the people I have talk to say to gap your plugs to .55 and bump your timing from 10 to 13.5. this is the setup that I got from many people that all swear by it

I've also heard that about Motorcraft plugs even a lot of racers use them, I use them in almost all my vehicles and they work great except for my Japanese bikes which don't seem to run good on anything but NGK plugs. Drinkbrew says 13.5 before TDC is the good timing number, sounds right, I set mine by ear and feel but I'm old school.
