trans fluid level
i have a 72 f100. what is the best way to check the trans fluid level? check it right after driving or starting it and letting it warm up to operating tempature? the reason i ask is because i am getting two different readings. when checking it right after driving it i get a higher fluid level than letting it warm up without driving.

It would take a long time for a transmision to warm up just sitting and idling. There is no load on the torque converter, and only the front pump and input shaft are spinning inside.
Probably best to check it after good 20 minute drive.
