Hi,
I'm a new poster here. I run a shop that repairs and restores British cars...(boy did I ever make a wrong turn!). One of my customers also has a 1953 Ford F100 Pickup, that I agreed to work n. We thought it needed a head gasket, but upon dismantle, the #6 cylinder has a nice crack in it. SO...we need a new/rebuilt short block.
Can you guys direct me in a direction that would help me. I'm in Southern New Jersey. Thank you
Very cool trucks by the way...thats why I agredd to work on it. I may be hooked.
Pete
Sounds like a great site to start looking, depends on what the customer wants to spend and if he wants to keep it stock. If it was my truck I would look for a used 302 if I couldn`t locate a used orginal engine. But that`s just me....
The I-6 is a better bet & he'd not have to go through the Extra Trouble & Expence of making the swap.
Here a complete engine on e-Bay for $99.00 w/ trans #4623438175, I'm quite sure the extra parts will come in handy. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-...temZ4623438175
Nothing like having to Relocate & Fab new Engine & Trans mounts, what a Major pain in the **** that is.
You can expand your options a little by considering the '54-'55 223. It was still 6 volt. Same motor mounts. You could probably run a '56 223 in there if you used the 6 volt electricals. The motor mounts changed in '57 so the '57-'64 223's aren't direct bolt-ins. They show up on eBay frequently. You'll be able to get one cheap if it's within driving distance. There was a '53 215 on eBay last week that didn't sell. The seller lives in Massachusetts. Item #4623774209.
