extremly low idle!!
I had my 337 flathead running today. I'm waiting for a gasket to bolt on the exhaust pipe on one side. With only an open exhaust manifold on one side, it sounds like a dragster idling. Normal idle is about 400 rpm. I swear I had the engine's idle down to less than 70 rpm. I could clearly hear each cylinder poping. It sounded like one of those hit-and-miss engines. If my camera batteries were not dead, I would have shot some video. With the electrinic ignition, wider plug gap, rebuilt carb, that old flathead sure runs great.

As heavy duty as the 239's are, I can only imagine the flywheel on a 337. What does it weigh, 100#?? For that matter, I was going to ask how much the starter weighs (ref. your earlier problems)? Is it the same as a 239, just geared down, or is it even heavier?? You almost need a floor jack to handle them!
