Truck ID
Can someone enlighten me on how to ID these years by the grills... I have my hands around an FE from a 19?? to replace my 1965. I would just like a little guidance as to what year I may be dealing with.
Thanks, --MG

The 67-69 models are easy to distinguish from the 70-72. The 70-72 had split grilles. The 67-69 models did not have divided grilles. They are different for each year, but the differences are minor and difficult to describe (whether the vertical portions are black or bright, for example).
Also, 67-69 models had reflectors surface mounted to the lower rear bed sides, but no marker lights. The 70-72 models have rear side marker lights in the bed.
The 67 models have unique interiors, with lever-style door handles. The 68-72 models all have similar interiors, with paddle style handles.
You can always, of course, obtain the VIN and look it up, which is the only way to really be sure. Grilles, beds, doors and the like are often swapped between years on these trucks. If you are confident that the grille is original, however, it is generally the easiest way to tell them apart. Just look at some photos in the gallery and note the differences.
