I just got a 2001 F250 SD, automatic. It has the factory hitch and plug in the rear. When I took off the lower dash panel, below the steering column, there is a plug just to the right of the column attached to a support, with nothing in it. Is this for the brake controller? Also, should the truck have an trans cooler beside the one in the radiator? It is hard to see with all the covers over the radiator. Thanks for any help.
I would say yes as far as the harness below the steering column, being your connector for brake control. I would think the truck has a small trans cooler look in the lower front area of radiator
the plug for the controller is way to the right on the other side of a metal brace (more os less behind the radio) in addition to the plug you also have to put in 2 fuses and 2 relays in the under hood fuse/relay boxes. if you send me an email i can send you a PDF of where everthing goes and is. the small cooler at the bottom, front of the radiator is the power steering cooler. if the truck has the additional cooler it is located between the the AC condensor and the intercooler on the passenger side, you have to pull up the rubber cover on top of the AC condensor/radiator to see it
