rear end gears

I have done a total rebuild on the engine in my 84 f-250 with trick flow heads and cam and is bored 30 thousandths I replace the aod tranny with a jackson racing c6 which is rated to handle 500 hp. I am having trouble getting off the line as fast as I would like. Would this be caused by going from the 4 speed aod to the 3 speed c6. And was wondering what size gears I would need to go to in the rearend to compensate for this and still be able to cruz at about 60mph if possible. Right now I have an 8.8 w/ 3.55 gears (i think) and am running 265/75/16 mud tires......thanks for the help

The taller tires with the car gearing are the biggest problem. To get faster response, 4.10's or 4.56's are best, but it sacrifices highway cruise rpm's, as it will make you run higher revv's to go the same speeds.

for the last 2 weeks, I was rolling on 265/70R17's, with a C6 and 4:10 gears, I was turning 3300 rpm's at 65mph. I now have 285/70R17's, and turn 3000rpm's at 65mph. You could also run a smaller tire when racing and keep your gears, that will get you off the line quicker.
