'02 5.4 4x4 - Clunk while shifting
It seems that while under moderate exceleration I get a clunk just prior to shifting. This seems to only happen from 1st - 2nd gear and does not seem to happen under light exceleration. I can not say if the clunk is or is not happening under heavy exceleration due to the increased engine noise.
That raises an interesting point that the clunk is only heard. I hear the clunk with the windows rolled down but I do not feel anythign in the seat of my pants, through the steering wheel or through my feet. I can only hear it when the windows are down.
The only "mods" i have done are 285/75/16's, cranked torsion bars, and a DiabloSport Predator. I have played with the shift pressure of the Predator but I do not think that i have it set to high. Regardless, I went back to the Original Back Up setting of the predator and the clunk was still heard.
Any suggestions or ideas that I cold bring with me to the shop?
Thanks for your help. I really hope I'm not about to have a gear/tranny failure!!
I had her in the shop and apparently it had to do with the torsin bars. This clunk was one of two I was experiencing and it seems to have been corrected when the other clunk was corrected. It had to do with the cam on the torsion bar hitting the top of the cross member where the cam is located. Seems tobe better now, however it's only be a day so we will see.
Thanks for you help
Mark
