I've got a 2000 crew-cab F250 psd 4X4. In recent posts, I've heard others mention the differences between the "early" 2000s and the "late" 2000s....to include the addition of a radiator cooler and a little more power and torque in the "late" model vs the "early" model. Is there any surefire way to tell which one I have? I'd like to get some hard numbers on hp and tq for my truck (which is still stock).......I did read a 2000 review from 4-wheeler which put it at 235hp and 500lb tq, but if anyone knows anything different, please advise. In any event, how do I tell?.......Thanks all
If you lift the hood and look at the turbo the early ones are smaller than the later ones. I've seen one only early '99 and the easiest way to describe the difference is compare the size of the outlet of the turbo to the size of the short section of y-pipe that it goes into.
I have a late '99 and the size of the outlet of the turbo matches the size of the Y-pipe it goes into. The early '99's turbo outlet is smaller in diameter in the area where the bar code is. And for those who are curious that white hose going across the top is for my boost guage.
To add to Kwiks description the pedestal under my early 99 turbo is slightly shorter in hieght than the later models. Thats if you are indeed asking about 99s and not 2000s. I am not sure of any differences among early and late 2000s except for connecting rods
