transmission swap on a 3.0

Nope.
You need any year 3.slow specific tranny, but after 97(?)model, you'd need to swap the tailshaft to keep the cable driven speedometer as needed on 94-earlier models. 95-97 trannies still used a tranny speedo gear, but it was electronic. 98-later had no such provision in the tailshaft, but they had better innards, from what I've heard.
I assume you are swapping from a slushbox when you ask about he computer. 94-earlier computers do not control the tranny in whole, so you can use either computer with at least the stickshifter. Even slushies can be run with a manual tranny computer, I believe...before 95, that is.
