302s were all Clevelands in F series up until 81 I think and all 2Vs. The 302 Windsor wasn't available in oz after 1971 until it came as an option in 1981(I think) in F series and Bronco but this was fuel injected, then basically the same engine became an option in the Falcon in 1992. The sad bit is that Ford Australia had no V8 engine option in the range from 1984 to 1992(except of course F series but they were discontinued in 1985 and not brought back until 1989)

Wow, that's some great trivia! How are the 302 Clevelands viewed in Australia, overall? Other than the fact that we had the 400 and 460 available, the quench head 302C Australian engine seems to be so much better than the smaller displacement engines in North America...
And EFI in '81? That is cool! I think it hit here in 1984; My '84 Lincoln Continental had the early CFI system and EEC III.

Not 100% on the 81 EFI, I'd say more likely that we got it in 84 as well or maybe later. The 302C is viewed as the poor choice to the 351 as the 351 had the 4V carb and the 302 had the 2V. I don't mind the 302C at all, easy to upgrade to 351 by changing the crank. 302 has 6" rods which go well in the 351 conversion with the right pin height pistons.

What did the 351 Cleveland there use for heads? Open chamber?
Was it/is it common there for people to swap the 302C heads onto their 351?
Do you know what compression ratio that would net, using factory pistons?

Most 351s were open chamber but the GT351s 4Vs were closed chamber I believe. If I remember correctly when you put 302 closed chamber heads on a 351 you get 10.5 or thereabouts. You really never know what you've got until you open it up, Ive heard of a few trucks that left the factory with full house 351 4V motors with 4 bolt mains and solid cams back in the 70s but these may just be stories but you never know what was possible if you were in the know.
