hi i have a 1988 F 150 truck long bed 5.0 4speed auto, need to know if this would tow a 28ft travle trailor without any problems, i was thinking of changing the aluminum drive line with a steal one does any one know if there is one that is interchangeable thank you for your replys
p.s. i used it to tow a mustang mini stock with a small dual axle trailor all summer with no problems if that helps, just the travle trailor weighs more i'm sure
this is just a regular pull trailor,i just worry about the tounge weight i have the stabalizer bars but never used them before, what about the drive line being aluminum thanks
The driveshaft is not the weak point in this setup--not by a long shot. The 302/AOD combo is. Sure, you COULD pull that with no problems, but the statistics are probably against you. Get a tranny temp gauge and don't let it get too hot, and go easy.
stay out of OD the whole way. what gears are you running? it can be done like said but prepare for really horrible gas mileage because of how hard that motor will have to work.

If my dad pulled a 16 foot box trailer built from an old mobile home, loaded with all of his stuff over 200 miles (weighed in at just over 15k pounds) with a 1988 E150 ClubWagon with a 302/aod and 3:55 rear I think he can do it. He also got 10 mpg. Mind you he stayed out of OD, and he also only ran 55 to 60 mph. But he got there fine and dropped off the load.
