Tranny Fluid

I am going to be installing a tranny temp gauge and was wondering what type of ATF I sould put in?

2004 Fx4 scab 5.4

Actually, I think since your scab is still under warranty, it might not be a bad idea to visit your Ford dealer to pick up a quart or two to replace any minor amount you might loose. I always keep a quart in my screw tackle box just in case. Have helped a brother Ford owner on occasion with it. Always like to be prepared and enjoy helping out.

When I installed my tranny temp guage I lost enough fluid to MAYBE fill the cap of a soda bottle. I wouldn't worry too much about replacing that small amount.

the tiny amount you will lose is minimal. But your trans takes mercon v fluid.

Tranny fluid loss

Installed an Autometer transmission temp. gauge a couple of weeks ago. Didn't lose more than an ounce.
