I just put a Extang Blackmax on my 2006 F150 and it looks good. it also went on easy, just one question. Is the frame supposed to perfectly square? The bows are different lengths and i had to try them in different spots till i got the right fit. Does this sound right?

thats the way they work. It allows for adjustment. I've had 3 so far, and loved them. Picking up my new '06 tomorrow and within a couple days it will have one also.
No, the bed is not square,(wider in the front) so the frame and bows are made to fit, they are marked with little stickers, as to where they fit!
Also the clamps that hold down the rails are different lenghts (these are not marked, just have to look at them, and figure out which is which) Extang shorted my kit 2 long clamps, but I called them and had replacments in a few days.

Thanks guys, i called extang while i was waiting and figured out that it was right, but my bows did not come with the stickers. Any way it looks great. The rep recommended putting the bows on the top setting for the summer (snaps already done). Does it look any different?
Yeah, the bows are marked on their undersides (cab/center/tailgate) I came close to removing these stickers since I don't like decals of any kind, but then came to realize that they were on there for a reason. I guess that's why they make them clear with dark yellow writting...for people like me
