What is this?

86 f250 7.5 look in my gallery to see picture.
When I bought this truck, the previous owner had cut out a hole in the bed to accomidate a 5th wheel I guess. anyway I have a hole about 1 foot square just a little forward of the rear axle. Anyway i took this picture through this hole.
The part in question indicated by the red arrow is obviously part of the brake system. I assume it is proportioning valve or something like that. The other parts( indicated by black arrows) I really don't have a clue what their purpose is. They are attached to the afformentioned valve, and appear to be a levering mechanism of some type, but after looking them over closely and trying to move them I have no clue as to their purpose. The final item indicated by blue arrow, a hose which joins with the other brake line hoses. But it just dead ends there and is clamped to the truck.
Can someone enlighten me?

The parts wiht the black arrow automaticly adjust the valve when there is a load in the bed. The hose looks to be the breather for the axle.

it is part of the rear brake circuit. it adjusts the amount of braking power to the rear brakes proportional to the load in the truck to help prevent rear lockup. no load, only a little bit of brakes. heavy load, valve full open, allot of rear brakes. at least that is what the ford rep told me when i bought my 88.

don't know if its true or not, but it made sense then, and still makes sense now after 18 years of driving the truck with all different kinds of loads in it.
