Best stopping pads?

Hey all,

I'm tired of the sluggish stopping in my 97 expedition 2x4 so I thought I'd replace the pads with something more aggressive. I currently have Raybestos Quietstops on there now. I don't care if the pads eat through the rotors or dust, but I don't want them to be "squeaky".

What would you recommend?

Thanks all,

Russell

I have been using ceramic pads on all of my vehicles just for that reason. Zero noise good stopping power and i have not noticed any excessive rotor wear. I use either napa or the satidfied brand from kragen. I prefer the satisfied brand

Ed,

Really? Stock Ford pads would have better stopping power than say Hawk pads? That surprises me.

ford390gashog,

I just haven't been that impressed with the Raybestos ceramic pads. They certainly aren't any worse, but they also don't feel any better than the stock pads.

Thanks guys,

Russell

you could also try the Motorcraft SuperDuty Brake Pads

2U2Z 2V001-AE

And yes I think the OEM pad are the best. Have heard it to many times about aftermarket pads making noise and brake dust etc.....

Carbotech Engineering (web site). I have used their linings for 20+ years, cost about $120 a set, typically get 80-100K miles before replacing. About 20% greater stopping power nop warpage with OEM cryogenically treated rotors
