I have 2004 6.0 and when I start my truck it makes white smoke and the engine dont run normal.
Its like it doesnt run on all cylinders but when I give him some gas he acts normal.
Thanks,
this is something I was looking for.Now I will watch this thread and see what they come up with.
But are the injectors most likely to be wrong when he act that way?
Cant this be any electric or computer proplem?

nonnivett, Ford has excellent diagnostic equipment for the 6.0 which can usually diagnose the problem within 5-10 minutes by performing a series of tests. Bring your truck into the dealer and see what they can find out- It is free of charge if you have less than 36,000 miles or covered under the 100,000 mile warranty with $100 deductable. Good luck
I had to jump in here, My tuck has the white smoke, but it does go away after it warms up. Sometimes after the first start up.
Any Ideas???
Thanks for your time
Jeff
It could simply be condensation in the exhaust. My '04 did it in the AM on the first start-up and by the time I made the first block it was gone. However, if it was continuing to belch white smoke after warm-up I beleive I would take utahtom's advice.

I have no mufflers in my exhaust system,Open all the way.
My truck allso is blinking the towing light and I have to switch off to get it away
I haven't been on here in a while because I have been on the road but I came on last night because my truck started to smoke out of the blue yesterday. When I say smoke I mean the some one in the small town I was working in called the local fire dept. Anyway, 2 mile down the road temp went through the roof and called the dealership in the area ... long story short, I am 4 1/2 hours from home with the truck at an unknowd dealership with a truck that has a chip, t-back exhaust, intake and 55,000 miles. I was ready to bend over but the service manager new the problem as soon as he saw it and said it was a faulty coolant line that cools the egr. Also saw the mods and liked the work I've done and said that my performance mods had nothing to do with the problem. Anyway, I have a pos p/t cruiser for a rental and have to drive back 4 1/2 on Monday to pick her up. This particular dealership really suprised me!!!
Coolant is leaking from the egr line and going through the exhaust and turbo, burning up and getting spit out the pipe ... will burn white and not go away. If you run it this way long enough they said you could "hydro-lock your motor" You should notice some type of fall in coolant level after a while but it doesn't take much coolant to make a lot of smoke!
Could be a # of things. The BM noted below is only one. Moisture is another and possibly ICP sensor.
Have you had all scheduled maint done? Recently?
