How muchj tranny fluid

How much do I need to put in a 97 powerstroke when I change it thanks Shawn Reardon

6-7 quarts if you are just draining the pan and filter, 14-15 if you are draining the torque converter too.. (go full synthetic!)

I am going to drain both tranny and convertor what is a good syn. to get that is compatable with my auto tranny 97 powerstroke thanks Shawn

Amsoil, or Royal Purple. Both are excellent. I use Amsoil and love it.

FWIW.. I did a lot of searching and contacting different dealer parts and service managers of what kind of fluid to use and they all agreed with my owners manual and the type on the dipstick NOT to use synthetic in my '97 E4OD.. They said Mercon/Dextron was the one to use. I changed mine with 14 qts. of Castrol Mercon/Dextron. As I said, FWIW....
