V10 Triton Life Expectancy?
That's when I had my first V10, but I didn't need the dually LB CC! It was the dually part that caused the issues...too much truck for my needs. The Ex is perfect but I couldn't afford one in '06, so I suffered thru 10 years wid a chebby.
2004 f250 super duty v10
mine has 416,238 miles on her. She drives like a dream ac wondows all work. I’ve done synthetic changes every 7500 miles changes battery’s of course. Alternator belts and radiator overflow as well as tune up. She is dependable and I’d take her anywhere.
Only work on engine is a timesert fix on two plugs. Fan Belt oil pressure sensor. Still going strong.
My stock V10 2000 Excursion caught a #7 cylinder head gasket leak around 249,000. Coincidentally I lost a fan clutch while towing in over 100 degree temps, methinks they were related. I have another motor on the way to swap out, hopefully arriving today or tomorrow.
My original V10 was at 200K and ran like a champ, no oil leaks, no timing tick, no mis-fires, everything in the truck worked as expected, until I allowed the WRONG shop to replace the spark plugs, and 10-20 minutes after leaving the shop BOOM!
I don't blame the motor, and even though it was a 2000, I do not blame the small number of threads, I blame the shop that obviously dropped the ball, and then stepped on it, did a back flip, and face planted the pavement on the plug replacement job....
Before the plug swap, i was hot ******* the truck all over the place, beating the crap out of it, no issues, its no coincidence that after stopping at this shop the motor blew its plugs.
I could have timeserted the 2 ports and called it good, the shop that caused it refused to take responsibility and claimed it just happens to these motors by some magic, and wanted 2500 bucks to pull both heads and fix all 10 ports permanently, I chose option C which was the following.
1. Give the shop a very detailed bad review, DONE!
2. Get the truck out of there before they take it upon themselves to fix it some other way or god knows what, DONE, had the engine shop I was using to plan a High Compression Build for my GT pick it up, shelf the GT build for now, and switch to a V10 build.
3. Go ***** in on the V10 build so we only gotta do it once, all aluminum radiator, timesert all 10 plugs while the heads are off, bore the **** out of the block, and then paint it up sexy. New pistons, new rods, new valve train, new timing set, tensioners, everything new, upgraded high volume oil pump, the works.
Engine just had its 3rd or 4th oil change and is an absolute beast, even on 35s with 3.73 gears still, I change the oil every ~3000 miles like clock work to keep it is immaculate condition internally.

I had about 190,000 on mine and then went and switched to a Ford Reman. Looking back at that decision, I wander if spent my money foolishly. I had to put in a Ford Reman tranny four years ago. I’d figured it would make a good match.
Our plans are to cover most of the lower 48 and Alaska within the next five (5) years, God willing.

The tranny was toast.
The engine was tired.
I installed a remote spin on filter for the tranny and a 6.0 cooler.
The engine now has help with a 4:56 G2 gears, Banks headers and a 5 Star Tune.
It is now a true “Hummer” so to speak.
All thanks to guys on this forum and their infinite wisdom and experience.
