Can anyone tell me the factory wheel size for my 4x2 1990 Ranger? I know it’s a 14” five hole rim and I’m running 215/70 tires. What I want is to run a late model set of 16” (I'll settle for 15”) Ford Factory five spoke allows. I believe the style appeared in 2001. If not factory wheels I'll try to find something very similar but need to know exactly what size to look for. My plan is to buy a tire with the O.D. of a 215/75-15 which was standard on the 4x4 so I can swap the transmission gear easily to correct the speedo and use 16" wheels. Any help would be appreciated.
I looked at car-part.com and I didn't see anything resembling a 5-hole wheel for a 1990.
Do you have the "deerhoof" wheels? Those are 14x6. Real common wheel. All the aluminum 14's are 14x6, while there is the occasional steel 14x5.5 or maybe a 14x6 out there. http://car-part.com/images/interchange/W3074.gif
I had those originally then I went to these, with 215/75/15s, and I changed from the red speedo gear to a white one, but I originally had 225/70/14's, so you should have a different speedo gear: http://car-part.com/images/interchange/W3008.gif
Under 2001, I see this for what can be taken as 5-spoke alloys:
uhhhhhhhhhh..........i wasn't aware you could use tires sized for a 15" rim on a 16" rim........am i the only one who see's a potential tire mounting issue here?

I'll get a 16" tire with the O.D. of a 215/75 - 15 or as close as possible. That would be a something like a 215/65 - 16 which is .18 smaller in diameter than the 215/75 - 15. The speedo would be off by .42 MPH...big deal. I hope to end up with a larger Ford wheel and a better selection of tires with little shorter sidewall but overall diameter that looks right for the truck. Not a cartoon look that some aftermarket wheels give. I'm too old for the bling bling look and don't really like it anyway.
ok, gotcha. now i'm on the same page. i thought you were actually talking about trying to put a tire for a 15" rim on a 16" inch rim........which would be.....interesting, to say the least
