I recently picked up a 1980 F150 4x4 for a farm truck.
The I6 is really starting to get weak, and noisy. (Kinda why I got it so cheap)
I have an 86 302 w/EFI out of a car that I am going to attempt to swap into the truck. I will start with Trucks specs.
1980, F150, 4x4, 4 speed Manual, 4.9L I6, 300CI.
These are the things I'm pretty sure I need.
Motor mounts from a small block V8 Truck. I have these.
Carburetor, I have an Edelbrock 1405 600CFM.
I'm pretty sure that an Edelbrock #2121 intake will fit without problems.
I know I will need a new distributor, I got my eye on an HEI conversion for simplicity.
I know I will need a clutch kit and flywheel for a V8 Manual Trans.
and I know I need a Mechanical Fuel Pump for the 302.
and last, LMC truck has a nice easy exhaust for an F150 4x4 cheap.
Is there anything else anyone can think of that i will HAVE to have?
Any clearance issues? modifying and such?
I appreciate any help, Thanks.
Chris.
PS here are a couple pics. Aint she a beauty?

Reason: updates
Yea, It's a little big. I noticed I posted in the wrong forums. My bad.
I'll do a better search to see if I can find what I need to know. It's staring to look like I may have a problem. I read somewhere here that the 86 302 was different somehow. It just so happens, thats what 302 I have. I do have a decent running 351W in an E250 van I could use,I was planning on selling the van, but I might have to reconsider and use the 351 instead. I think the 351 would be better for me, it was my first choice, but I needed extra money so I was going to leave it in the van to sell whole. I'll have to talk to the guy that wans it and see if it would **** him off changing my mind on him.
i put an 86 efi from a crown in my 81 1/2 ton.you have to change almost everything on the engine including the timing cover if you want a mech, fuel pump.the base is different but you can use it.you really need a whole 302 carb motor 80 to 85 for parts.
you also have to change out the cam because it will suck. also the 302 aint got the low end grunt that 300-6 has . i say sell the 302 and get a rebuilt 300-6 an you will be much happier honest. those motors last for ever compared to any v8.

I'll keep the 300 around, someday when I can afford it I probably will rebuild it. But for now, I already have a motor thats in better shape, And wouldn't cost as much right now to drop in the 351 and build up the 300 later. I did decide to use the 351, it's an 85 and already carbed. I would only have to get a clutch, flywheel, and motor mounts to get put in. Not to mention, I need this truck running, can have it sitting waiting for a rebuild, It's used daily.
