i was wondering what parts would i need to transfer if i wanted to EFI my 84 bronco, i have complete 87 efi pickup both have straight six big blocks. has anyone done this, diffeculty rating? was there any boring anything like that the current carbed motor has about 10,000 miles on the reman. i know i will need the EFi Exhaust manifold and upper and lower intake manifolds, TB, dose the cylinder head come along with that cause if so then i need to rebuild one before hand? i just need the better gas mileage and my truck had about 17 before it died plus there is a spanken new exhaust on it that i would love to put on my bronco.
You'll need the computer and wiring harness, plus all the little sensors that the computer requires. I'm old school myself; I wouldn't have a clue how to hook up all that stuff. But I had a 3/4 ton van with an EFI 300, and it ran sweet and was surprisingly good on gas.
If you have any specific questions, I can answer them. I wasn't going to go and create a how-to article until I am completely done, but I am almost there.
If you are organized and have a basic understanding of how the electronics work, you will be fine. As long as you label *everything* and take your time with it, you shouldn't have any issues.
I took the easy route and swapped in the entire fuel injected engine. My stocker was shot and this one was in good shape, so it was the best option. I ended up tearing the engine down to just the short block anyway, but I took everything. Pull the engine, wiring harness, and have at it.
