I have a 2001 SD with PSD. Lately I have noticed when I go around a right hand corner at hiway speeds I can hear air coming around the door seals. It's as if the cab is flexing and causing the doors to loose the seal. BTW I have the extended cab.. Has anyone else had this problem and what have you done to fix it?
It's a common problem with SuperCab trucks, and I still haven't fixed mine. The only real solution is to replace the bottom latch bolts with shouldered ones as the stock bolts make any adjustments unattainable.
Firemech, Our '03 CC was doing the same (and squeaking a little) I found a thread here on FTE that described sliding either 1/4" or 3/8" clear plastic hose (automatic icemaker stuff I think) into the hollow portion of the door seal (slit is at the bottom). It takes a little work but you can feed a single strand of hose all the way around the seal without pulling it off with some soap & water and a little work. I think we used the 1/4" but a lot of folks use the 3/8". Depends on how stiff you want the seal to be. It works great though.
Munkey and 72Lester; Thanks for the input. I'll check the latch bolts and let you know what happens. Ford said to use a large hammer and hit the latch inward to tighten the door. I thought I should use a hammer on his car and see how he would like the results. Some people......
