my 1968 Ford has developed a hole in its fuel tank and I was wondering what year models will fit. does anyone know if one from a 73-79 will work? or maybe 66 and older? is there someplace to get new ones? I don't want to do a bunch of hokey stuff to put one in the bed, or try and fit one undernieth(witch looks to be impossible anyway). any ideas?
My 72 F-250 had a bad tank in it when I bought it, so I took one out of a 73 F-250 4x4 and installed it. It was mostly a bolt in, some of the holes accross the top didn't line up but I didn't figure that the tank needed so many bolts anyway. Everything else worked fine.
The tanks in the 4x4 are held in by more bolts. Guess Ford figured with a rougher ride it needed to have more than three bolts. It also has straps around the tank on the 4X4 according to my body assembly manual.
