Leaking Carb

I have an older model 4 barrel holley carb on my 460 and it is leaking fuel. It appears that the fuel is dripping out at the point where the throttle plate arm comes out of the bottom of the carb. I put a rebuild kit in it but it didn't help. could it be the floats are bad ...it didn't have any in the kit and i looked at them and they looked alright...HELLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi ford4604bbl,

Did the kit come w/ a screw-in type standoff w/ a hole in it and a metering pin that goes into it and that the floats adjustment tab rides on?

Also the float has to be at the correct level and a paper scale should have been included in the carb rebuild kit w/ adjustment specs.

And if there is any crapola in the lines the meter pin will be forced to stay open and cause your exhisting problem!

And as always feedback is welcome here @ FTE!

Yes the kit had the new metering pins in it and the float was wet adjusted so I guess my only other thought is that there could be dirt in there that is letting the fuel leak through....guess I will tear it apart again and see what is in there.. my next option ...buy a new carb . Maybe a new Edelbrock is in order ?

Well loks like I have it figured out ...it was the lock screw and gasket on the metering jet. Now if I can get it to stop leaking oil ....wait ...better not or i would never find my way back home LOL !!!!
