I have a '68 F100 2wd with power steering from a 72 added on. How loose is normal steering and is there some things that can be tightened up or adjusted to stiffen it up some.
Do Not Tighten the adjustment screw more than about 1\4 of a turn at a time!!!!!!!!!!!Little Steps, if your smart........If you get it too tight ---You can create very unsafe steering problems----fd
Be careful not to jam that screw too tight. If you turn it in until it stops then back off a third or half a turn, it should be okay. There's a proper way to do it involving an inch/lb torque wrench on the steering wheel but you have to disconnect the pitman arm to do it right. You might also want to have someone lightly move the wheel back and forth while you watch the linkage underneath. Bad ball joints on the drag link are a common reason for wandering steering.
