another CPS thread

I know there are a million cps threads on this site and I have read about half a million of them but my problem sounds a little different. First of all, my truck never dies. Most of the time it will have a rough idle. when I get into second gear, let off the clutch and step on the gas, it stumbles and stutters and feels like it is running out of gas until I get the rpm's up. Once my rpms are up and I am going pretty good it smoothens out. Does this every time I drive the truck and has been doing so for a few months now. I have changed the feul filter and I run addative quite regularly. Are these symptoms of my cps begining to fail? Thanks in advance.

I think at this point the only way you could answer that question is to actually change out the CPS.
Everyone needs a spare anyway.

Agreed. But maybe try cleaning the connector to the
CPS first. Some electrical cleaner spray with a shot of air
might do the trick. Just reconnecting it may also fix it.
Let us know.

Elk, have you run/scanned for codes? I had similar symptoms, went to a buddies house, scanned codes and did injector buzz test and found dtc p1278 injector low to high open. After some research found that on the earlier (mine is a 2001) 7.3 the wiring loom connector under the valve cover for the injectors and glow plugs can come loose. Mine was kind of cocked a bit and the pins to injector 8 were not making contact. There is a wedge kit available from ford p/n 2C3Z-14A163-AB which basicall slips under the lock tab of the connector under the valve cover. When I did mine, which cured the problem, the connector was brittle from the heat I assume and broke. Fortunately the dealer had the loom in stock. P127* will indicate that the low to high side is open and the * will indicate which cylinder is affected. You could have multiple P127* which will indicate a few cylinders or maybe the entire bank. Hope this helps.
