I was driving around today and got to thinking that maybe my 99 F250 SD is idling too high. It idles right at 1K? Is that normal for a V10? This is my first SD so I have nothing to compair it to. I just know everything else I have owned has idled around 750 rpms.
i have an excursion with the v10. when i first start it up in the morning it idles at about 1k. for about 30 seconds. after warmup, it idles at about 750-800. check the iac motor, it might be clogged. after that i'm not sure..sorry..i would post this in the v10 forum..
get a can of cleaner, take the air tube off, hold the throttle open and spray and clean out the gunk. some run the truck while going this, i dont. it will run a bit rough for a little after doing this. should run better. you might have to take the iac motor off to clean the carbon out of it.
Sounds pretty simple. Sounds like what I did with my Jeep Wrangler but it carbed. I used Seafoam on it and it never ran better. I guess I'll try it out in the morning. How do I know what is the IAC motor on the intake. Sorry for all the questions I'm just building knowledge about the V10.
im not sure on the v10 because i never looked at mine. i know on my mustang, its on the throttle body, has a plug connecting to it, looks like a round tube on an angle. sorry bad descrip. and thats what it is on my mustang.
