Recently, I have switched from a 2000 F250 PSD to a 2000 X PSD. I am switching the bumper from my truck to the X. My question is: are the front springs strong enough for the HD bumper and winch? A couple years ago when I bought the bumper, I installed an extra spring on my truck but I was doing front-end work anyway.
Just guessing, I would think this bumper/winch weighs 300 lbs, or more.
I would say no! A lot of X owners are swapping in super duty (U & V) springs, just to get off of the bump stops. If you had to add a leaf to the F250, you will at least need to upgrade to Vs.
I did okay with the V-code springs with my same bumper/M15000 setup, but it dropped about an inch, I de-arced a 4" lift spring with it and had to use a 6" lift spring to get a 4" lift...
That's one heavy combo, but I wouldn't trade it. It's saved me once already.
