On my I6 240, I have but 2 vaccuum hoses...one goes from the side of the carb to the vaccuum advance on the distributor, and the other line comes off the metal tube on the intake manifold and a rubber hose connects to the PCV valve on the top of the valve cover.
My truck is a manual tranny, and manual brakes. Let me know what else you need.
my truck is all manual too. There are two vaccum hosed coming from the car/intake and they go to a round thing with a spring on one end, then there is one that runs to the vaccum advance. you have any idea what the little round thing with a spring is??
Is it a round thing with like a disc at the bottom of it? Kind of looks like say about the size of roll of dimes???? Thats your PCV Valve...plug it into the rubber grommet on top of your valve cover.
its not the pvc vale. i know what that is. it looks like a little round canister about 1 inch by 1 inch and has a spring on the bottom of it. there are 2 vaccum lines coming out of the side of it and one coming out of the top of it.
Can you tell us where it is located / mounted? Can you tell if it might be part of the exhaust system or any other system? Does it have any arms that actuate or move anything?
I'm just trying to develop a mental picture of your setup. It might help someone else, too, that may know what you are talking about when they see your response.
One more thing, is this engine eqipped with any emmissions devices like an air (smog) pump?
Does your distributor have two connections on the vacuum advance? The little round thing was used on the retard connection on the advance. I forgot the total operation but may have it somewhere. I would just use the normal advance port.
its got no smog equipment or anything like that. just an altenator...
could this round thing go bad and cause a hesitation in my truck or anything and also could anyone tell me how it should be hooked up so i can see if i have it hooked up right.
