Running a 240...

Hello, I have a 240 with a three on the tree manual, in a 66 f100. I was just wondering who else has this engine, and what mods have been done. I was looking at an offy DP intake, and a holley 390, and EFI dual exhaust manifold. If anyone has done something like this before, how much of an improvement was there? Also, what kind of mileage do you get? I have 3.70 rear end, and was thinking about taller gears, but i live around alot of hills so this should be pretty good for me.

Thanks for any info you have for upgrading a 240. Later on, I mite be rebuilding the bottom end too.

All that is a good plan for increased performance. It's been done many times, usually with a 300 shortblock added for further enhancement. Keep the 240 head and do some port matching and polishing. You'll be happy.

Well breathing is the key to making these sixes perform, so yes, the add ons you describe should do it for you. It will make more power so you won't have to have the gas pedal to the floor constantly which could possibly equate better milage. That is unless you are having too much fun. Then you might have to tape a sponge under the gas pedal.
