I have a 2003 Ranger Edge, 4.0 ,4x4 5 speed 40,000 mi. When It is snowing out or I am following another vehicle that is kicking up snow dust I have a miss in the engine. When it is clear no problem. I have tried fuel conditioner, fueling up at different gas stations but no change. Any ideas out there
Just a thought, does it miss when it rains also? Spark plug wires getting wet could be your problem. You don't have a lot of miles on your truck, but if the wires insulation breaks down, this can and will happen. Also, check your fan belt(s), particularly your alternator belt...it could be slipping when it gets wet, and the engine momentarily stumbles, and it feels like a miss
Kinda sounds like a secondary ignition breakdown problem to me too.
I like to butter the spark plugs external insulator & the inside of the wire "boot" with a light coating of a good quality dielectric grease. Ths will help prevent "flashover" during damp conditions.
Be sure all the plug wires are securely snapped in place & don't have any insulation damage.
Same for the spark plugs insulators, no chips, cracks, or carbon tracks.
I even go so far as to clean & coat the top of the coilpack with silicone spray.
If you don't find any loose, or damaged wires, try spraying them, one at a time, with water from a spray bottle & see if you can reproduce & isolate the problem.
