Ok I started putting gauges in today. I got the trans sender in ok and went to put in the boost. I can't find the t fitting. I do not know if I lost it or not. Anyone have a clue where I could get another? Autometer does not list one on their web page. I got the gauges while I was on vacation in the states and can't really take it back, so I need to make due. Also I tried to get the plug out of my down tube for the pyro and it does not budge. This is gfoing to be more complicated than I thought. Itis not really a bolt, but looks like a 3/8 drive. Nonetheless I can't get my hands in there to get it off. I think some intake hoses and such are going to come off, or I might take it back to the guy who put the exhaust on and tell him to get it off. any advice appreciated.
for the pyro i would just drill and tap the manifold because the reading will be more accurate. i dont know if a hardware store would have the tee or not for the boost guage
Any autoparts store should hav the T. Just let them know what size hose it is and they can get one for you. You don't want to put the probe in the downpipe. That is post-turbo and you want it pre turbo near the manifold. Check out www.dieselmanor.com and under 7.3 gauge install.
IF I had an Air Intake Heater, (I don't since I have an early 99) I would seriously consider using this fitting for hooking up the boost gauge. I looked through several sponsors' sites trying to find it, but I couldn't. If someone knows a sponsor carries these they should point that out. Anyway the Air Intake Heater blocks a significant amount of airflow and really isn't needed except if you live in northern Canada or Alaska.
I tried the link, but it doesn't get you all the way there. Click on the link and then click on the Ford and then click on BCD Exclusive Products listed under the 7.3.
Also, for SURE put your pyro probe before the turbo. Putting it in the down pipe not only gives you a temp difference of at least 300 degrees, it actually varies in accuracy. Sometimes it will be 300 off, sometimes it will be 500 off. This was verified by some gauge freak who had both pre and post pyros... I welded a fitting on my up pipe and installed mine there, but the easy way to go seems to be to drill and tap the exhaust manifold. Everyone says that is easy except for people who drill the hole too big or tap it too deep.
