Yes, the front of the frame is exactly the same width. Also the cabs will interchange if your 76 4X4 has coil spring front suspension. Is that close enough to being the same for ya? the frame stands, engine mount brackets and rubbe insulators will mount the 385 series right in the 66 F-100 bolt up style.
The C-A or Cab to Axle area is wider on a 76, actually on a 73 through 79 model, but you can fudge the 1.5" per side difference if you have to in a pinch. My 66 SWB Style Side's bolted on a 79 F-150 SWB Chassis & everything works with a little massaging.
