hey all.... i have a 93 7.3 international in my f350.the motor is shot.
i found an 86 7.3 international in a school bus that i want to put in my 93 f350.
i see quite a few differences in the motors...the pully setup, alternater size and location different...everything on top seems alot bigger then the one in my f350.
im wondering if the 86 motor itself and trans will bolt up to my 93 f350..and the brackets ( power steering,ac,water pump)...are there the same threaded holes in both the 7.3 blocks...where i can switch everything? thanks.

I'm no expert on the IDI's by any stretch, but I do not think there were ever any structural changes in the 7.3 block or heads. Since they'll be side by side it should be a (relatively) simple matter of swapping it all over.
years ago i helped a friend swap a ford 7.3 into an international bus. we had to swap all the ford parts out for the international stuff.
the engine is the same, it is all the addons that are different. alternator and brackets, power steering pump and brackets, ac and brackets, vacuume pump and brackets, water pump ( longer shaft on the international), exhaust manifolds, and we changed the injector pump and fuel rail also. i forget why we did the rails and pump, i think the bus had a larger pump, but not sure.
The Ford motor is set for higher horse power than the International motor is.
The blocks and internals are the same, the bolt on externals are different.
Simple swap to do.
The 86 motor should be a 6.9 though, that is not a bad thing.
thanks for all the info..... so bascially all will work..ill just have to switch all the accescories in front..(ps pump, alt, pullys)? and there will be the empty threaded holes for my brackets to bolt up to?? thanks again
