I'm trying to replace my CPS. Of course there is an altinator in the way. My problem right now is; I just twisted my 1/4 to 3/8 adapter off. This not left hand threads is it and if not, has anyone twisted the bolt off at the block? It is plenty tite!
never saw one with the alternator in that position and never saw one that tight. You want to be working in the area of the timing mark indicator. The only thing that would be in the way is the fan belt crossing in front of the bolt head.
You should be laying on your back under the truck, passenger side of he harmonic balancer and you will see the metal indicator tab from the CPS. You will need a 3/8 drive 10mm socket with a short extension to get the rachet in a good place to turn it.
All PSD's have dual batteries, but the alternator is under there only if you ALSO have "dual" alternators. The location for the other one, (or only one if a single system) is on top of the engine.
I have the dual alternators and it was tight quarters near the CPS. Used a 6 in extension to my 10 mm socket. The CPS bolt is regular threads and should come outwith out breaking the 1/4 in adapter. Just use a 3/8 ratchet, you may have had a broken adapter.
