It depends on your definition of "heavy".
Around here an F-350 is still called a ute (sort for utility) - unless it can haul more than 4 tonnes it isn't a "truck"...
not being mean...but i have never complained about bad gas mileage...but i get about 18-19MPG hwy depending on hills/grades...but sometimes I only get about 14MPG hwy...hey, its a TRUCK!!! Want gas mileage, then you are driving the wrong vehicle...this is when you go buy your HONDA!
That, in this situation, is one time you wouldn't want a Honda - while it is a ULEV, what I have heard about milage on the Ridgeline aren't exactly "glowing" reports...
I see where ya'll are comin from here, but also take into consideration that not everyone needs an F-150 or a 1500 Dodge or Chevy every day, and sometimes the Ranger is too small (WHERES THE CREWCAB RANGER WHEN YOU NEED IT!?) For those folks who have families, yet every once in a while, needs to haul their kids' bikes around, or maybe grab a sheet or two of drywall, this "truck" suits them just fine. Would you rather have the folks who bought the Ridgeline, pay for a big honkin truck, and drive fuel prices up higher because of them wasting it? Ya'll complain about people driving these vehicles, yet you also complain about fuel prices being high.
So let's face it. It's got a bed, so it can be classified as a truck. A light, light duty truck, but it's still a truck right?
In that case get Avalanche. At least it have V8 and you can always remove rear window and increase side of bed.
Better toss the new V6 crew cab F150s out the door too because the Ridgeline has more payload and stock towing then it does.
Thank you for understanding my point of view. I didn't intend to get smartass responses to my original post about trucks having "beds." I also didn't need a dictionary telling me a definition of a word.
I must say I'm not too crazy about these Ridgelines, but I'm not going to slam its reputation to the ground JUST because it doesn't suit my needs. To some people, it's a perfect vehicle. They get better mileage than an F-150, yet they can still haul the family around.
I would also like to see actual reports on their sales. According to the Marysville Journal Tribune, these "trucks" are selling quite well. By the way, for you people who know nothing about Honda's, both of their plants are less than 5 miles from me. I think I'd know facts on these vehicles.
To sum it all up, you folks need to open your minds up a little. Thinking your fesis, nor Ford's doesnt stink, isn't going to get you ANYWHERE at all.
First let me apologize if I upset you with my comments. Often when I do say something smart assy, its just for fun.
Now that said, I don't like V6 F-150's, I wouldn't buy one, not for me. I think they should bring back the straight 6 if they want a six banger engine. If your going to buy a V6, it should be in a small to midsize pick up.
If your going to buy a full size, get a V8, Toyota knows this, so does Nissan. Is the ridgeline fine for a vehicle with a bed, sure, but so is a Sportrac for that matter. Doesn't mean I'd buy one and call it a Truck. I don't like that people call them trucks, they aren't.

No need to appologize. I was in a pissy mood at the moment, and totally looked over the sarcasm! Sorry I came back so harsh.
I agree that a V6 isn't exactly a thriller in a half ton truck, but it gets the job done. For some people, like I said earlier, could be a perfect truck. Now you throw the ol 300 back into a half ton, let the games begin. That engine was a beast.
I agree. I hate to hear them being called trucks. In fact, around here (Honda capital of the World), they call the Element, Pilot, and the Ridgeline their line of "Trucks". I know I may be hyppocritical here, but they need to refine the word "truck" a little bit. I would be more satisfied if they called the Ridgeline a light duty truck, and the Ford's and Chevy's be considered HD light trucks, if that makes sense.
Yes, it erks me a little. But then again I think about my ol 91 Ranger. It ain't got a V8, or even a V6, but that ol 2.3 has done and hauled around a lot more than I see most half ton trucks hauling around.

The Ridegline's fuel mileage is nothing to boast about...and is only a hair better than the F-150's...
